International Myopia Conference Set for Sept. 25-28, 2024, Website Launched

HAINAN ISLAND, China — The 19th International Myopia Conference (IMC) has officially set the dates it will be held here, September 25-28, 2024.

The 19th IMC will be hosted by the Aier Institute of Optometry and Vision Science, Aier Eye Hospital Group. The event will be chaired by Zhikuan Yang MD, PhD, Professor of Ophthalmology, Aier School of Ophthalmology, Central South University, China. The executive chair of the conference is Weizhong (Bruce) LAN, MD, PhD, Professor of Ophthalmology, Aier School of Ophthalmology, Central South University, China.

“Myopia has become a global public health problem, drawing increasing attention from academic circles and government agencies, including the World Health Organization,” said Dr. LAN. “In September 2024, the Aier Eye Hospital Group will host the 19th International Myopia Conference in Hainan, China. We expect to bring together scientists, clinical experts, and policy makers to collaboratively seek solutions for myopia prevention and control. By encouraging cutting-edge thinking and intense scientific discussions, IMC is also expected to promote knowledge and communication between academia and industry. The event provides a platform to share new insights into the interventions and solutions to arrest the arising epidemic of myopia worldwide.”

Earlier this year, Review of Myopia Management (RMM) was named the Official Media Sponsor of the upcoming IMC. RMM will work with the IMC to promote the event to eye care professionals and vision scientists across the United States and globally. The groups plan to collaborate on soliciting abstracts for the conference, encouraging attendance, and publishing coverage of the event before, during, and after it takes place.
