NEW YORK and ROTTERDAM, The Netherlands – Review of Myopia Management (RMM) has been named the Official Media Sponsor of the upcoming International Myopia Conference (IMC).
To be held September 4-7, 2022, in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, the 18th IMC will be hosted by the Erasmus Medical Center at the De Doelen, a state-of-the-art convention center in the heart of Rotterdam. The event will be chaired by the International Myopia Institute (IMI) Committee Leader and Member, Professor Caroline Klaver. This upcoming event is several years in the making, as the IMI postponed the event in 2021 due to travel restrictions amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“The 2022 International Myopia Conference will focus on fostering collaborations, connections, and political actions required to place myopia at the top of the global health agenda, with the ultimate aim to prevent blindness from myopia in the generations to come,” said Professor Klaver.
“We look forward to creating a unique forum for knowledge exchange, and we will make a strong effort to connect vision and basic scientists to clinical experts and policy makers. Myopia’s broad spectrum of causes and consequences necessitate a comprehensive panel of experts to elucidate mechanisms, define targets for therapy, and help solve current clinical dilemmas.”
Review of Myopia Management will work with the IMC to promote the event to eye care professionals and vision scientists across the United States and globally. The groups plan to collaborate on soliciting abstracts for the conference, encouraging attendance, and publishing coverage of the event before, during, and after it takes place.
Review of Myopia Management is a leading online publication designed to help eye care professionals maximize the emerging field of myopia management. Since its inception, RMM has remained committed to producing and sharing the most up-to-date information and educational tools for eye care professionals. The online publication has grown to be the leading source of clinical, practice management, and research information on myopia management.
“Review of Myopia Management is honored to work with Professor Klaver and the IMC Organizing Committee to ensure all the leading vision and basic scientists, clinical experts, and policymakers in the field of myopia contribute to this important event,” said RMM’s Chief Medical Editor, Dr. Dwight Akerman. “The International Myopia Conference will provide a unique opportunity to address the reality that myopia is the primary eye health threat of the 21st century.”
The International Myopia Conference will begin accepting conference registrations and abstract submissions on March 1. More information is available here.
